Know before you go

What it is

The Australian Open is the season's first Grand Slam, played at Melbourne Park. In 2027 it runs for three weeks: Opening Week from 11 to 16 January, then the main draw from 17 to 31 January.

  1. Arriving by car

For 2027, the venue's guide puts the rideshare drop-off and pick-up point outside John Cain Arena on Olympic Boulevard, and the taxi rank next to Grand Slam Oval, close to all entry points. Melbourne Park is a 10-minute walk from the city via Birrarung Marr or Tanderrum Bridge.

  2. Getting home

The venue asks guests not to order a rideshare until they reach the pick-up point, to avoid congestion on Olympic Boulevard. In 2026, trams ran back to the city until an hour after play ended each night.

Good to knowParking is limited: paid parking at Yarra Park (MCG) is first come, first served. For 2027, Ground Pass numbers are capped each day for the first time.

11–31 Jan 2027. It opens with Opening Week, followed by two weeks of main-draw play.

Where do rideshare and taxis stop at Melbourne Park?

Rideshare uses the point outside John Cain Arena on Olympic Boulevard, and taxis the rank next to Grand Slam Oval. For reduced mobility, drop-off is at the Northern Car Park (Entrance A, Batman Avenue) or the Eastern Plaza Car Park (Entrance D).

We are a group with lots of bags. Which car?

Pick the car size when you book. Bigger cars are offered for more people and bags.
