Gold Coast → Brisbane
Overview
Combine two cities in a day: start on the Gold Coast and head north to Brisbane's riverside highlights, with a koala stop and South Bank before an easy evening return.
Best for: Cruise days, stopovers, city combos
Where you'll go
Your driver adapts the route on the day — stops can flex to suit your pace and interests.
1
Gold Coast pickup
Door-to-door from your hotel, scenic M1 north.
About this stop
The Gold Coast and Brisbane sit about 80 km apart, linked by the M1 Pacific Motorway — Queensland's busiest road corridor. Outside peak hours the run takes roughly an hour, trading surf towers for the river city's skyline.
Make the most of it
Ask for a pickup before 8am to clear the Gold Coast ahead of the weekday motorway crawl between Coomera and Logan. Use the drive to settle the day's order with your driver — wildlife first while the animals are active, or the river city first and koalas after lunch.
Why it's worth it
Two cities in one day with none of the train-and-taxi shuffle — you watch the motorway slide past and step out only at the good parts.
2
Lone Pine or South Bank
Koala time or riverfront parklands — your call.
About this stop
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, founded in 1927 on a bend of the Brisbane River, is recognised as the world's first and largest koala sanctuary, with free-roaming kangaroos alongside its koalas. South Bank Parklands, built on the site of World Expo 88, is Brisbane's riverside playground, complete with the man-made Streets Beach lagoon.
Make the most of it
Pick Lone Pine if anyone in the group hasn't met a koala yet — arrive before midday when the kangaroo paddock is calmest, and budget about 90 minutes. South Bank suits a slower, no-ticket morning: walk the bougainvillea arbour, photograph Streets Beach, and have your driver collect you at the far end so you never double back.
Why it's worth it
One is Australia's most famous koala encounter, the other a beach beneath city towers — either way, you leave with the postcard.
3
Brisbane highlights
City lookout, laneways and the river.
About this stop
Brisbane wraps around a serpentine bend of its namesake river, its heritage sandstone landmarks — the old Treasury, City Hall — threaded with modern laneways. Ten minutes from the centre, the Mt Coot-tha lookout delivers the classic panorama across the CBD to Moreton Bay.
Make the most of it
Save Mt Coot-tha for mid-afternoon, when the sun swings west and lights the skyline face-on. With limited time, trade a full Botanic Gardens loop for the riverside boardwalk — the Story Bridge views come free, and a laneway coffee on the way rounds out the city in ninety minutes.
Why it's worth it
River, lookout and heritage streets all within a fifteen-minute drive of each other — Brisbane gives you the big-city set pieces without the big-city crush.
4
Return to the Gold Coast
Relaxed evening transfer back to your hotel.
About this stop
The evening run retraces the M1 south, with the lit towers of the Gold Coast rising off the coastal plain on approach. Weekday afternoons see the corridor at its slowest — exactly the variable a local driver plans around.
Make the most of it
Leave Brisbane before the weekday peak builds, or sit it out over an early dinner and ride back after the rush. If energy holds, ask for a five-minute detour to the Surfers foreshore on arrival — the lit skyline makes a worthy last frame.
Why it's worth it
The day ends at your hotel door, not on a train platform — that is the whole point of going private.
Just your group, no one else
Every tour runs as a private hire — your vehicle, your driver, your pace. No shared coaches, no waiting for strangers. You set the agenda; we handle the logistics.
