What it is
Vivid Sydney is a festival of light, music, ideas and food across The Rocks, Circular Quay, Barangaroo, Darling Harbour and the city. The Light Walk is free and the lights come on at 6pm every night; some events are ticketed.
Arriving by car
Roads around Circular Quay close each night from 3pm until about 1am, reaching further into the city on weekends. The organiser strongly encourages leaving your car at home, so get dropped at your hotel before 3pm.
Getting home
In 2026, the festival's official rideshare partner had pick-up zones on Macquarie Street, Hickson Road and Zollner Circuit (Darling Harbour), and taxi ranks on Macquarie Street, Carrington Street and Railway Colonnade Drive ran every night. Check the 2027 transport page before you go.
Good to knowOn Saturday nights in 2026, trains didn't stop at Circular Quay from 6 to 11pm; Wynyard was the station to use.
