What it is
The Queensland Government's Safer Schoolies Response for Year 12 school leavers on the Gold Coast, centred on Surfers Paradise. In 2025 the Schoolies Hub on the beach ran free entertainment from 7pm to midnight for school leavers wearing a Safer Schoolies wristband.
Arriving by car
In 2025, police closed the Esplanade, Cavill Avenue and Orchid Avenue to cars every night, from 5pm or 7pm until 4am, and part of the Esplanade was also closed to traffic for a City of Gold Coast trial. Plan to reach your accommodation before the evening closures, and check that year's traffic map on saferschoolies.qld.gov.au.
Getting home
In 2025 the night-time closures lifted at 4am. For evenings out, the G:link tram ran extra services for 50 cents a trip in 2025.

Can a car drop off right at the Schoolies Hub?
Not in the evening in 2025: the streets around the Hub were closed to cars from 5pm or 7pm until 4am. Arrive at your accommodation before then.
