What it is
Cairns Festival is Cairns Regional Council's festival of music, art, theatre and light across the city. In 2026 it ran for 10 days with more than 50 events, 49 of them free, and the main stage, light installations and Grand Parade were on the Esplanade.
Arriving by car
There is no single venue: in 2026 events were on the Esplanade, at the Tanks Arts Centre, at Munro Martin Parklands and at Carnival on Collins. On the 2026 Grand Parade day, roads near the Esplanade closed from about 4pm and the council warned that city parking would be extremely limited.
Good to knowThe 2026 Grand Parade and fireworks were at the Esplanade Lagoon precinct, with the parade starting at 5:30pm. On parade day the council suggested carpooling or public transport.
